Stephen Hill

Head of Volunteering,
Parkinson's UK

Stephen has been Head of Volunteering at Parkinson’s UK since 2016, where he oversees the strategic development of volunteering throughout the UK. Formerly Stephen was Head of Volunteering at Carers UK where he developed a volunteering strategy to recruit and support over 500 new volunteers within 18 months. This structure led to further funding for the charity and a growth in available contact and understanding for carers. Starting out in volunteering through programmes to support young people experiencing bullying and challenges with their mental health, this was also the time he saw first-hand the transformational power of digitally connecting people to receive support, and its potential to monitor, evaluate and support. With the team of volunteering professionals at Parkinson’s UK Stephen is structuring volunteering to the 145,000 people experiencing Parkinson’s today, but crucially looking to anticipate how it needs to respond to the needs of the 18,000 new people diagnosed every year.
